Experience

Director of Practice Change, Resolve Philly

April 2019-Present
I created and lead Resolve Philly’s professional development arm, Modifier, where I help journalists and other content creators learn new skills that build trust with audiences.

Newsletter Editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer

October 2017-April 2019
I wrote the Inquirer Morning Newsletter, providing 100,000 readers with what they needed to know to start each day. I also oversaw the operation of the Inquirer’s eight other editorial newsletters, worked with staff writers to shape newsletter content, and played a key role in developing product strategy.

Founder of Foolproof Newsletter

February 2017-March 2019
In 2017, I launched a weekly email newsletter called BOOM letter to teach readers how to critically engage with the news, protect their online privacy, and understand journalism. In the fall of 2018, BOOM relaunched as Foolproof, with a focus on protecting ourselves from misinformation and understanding our digital lives.

Screenwriter (Freelance) at Complexly

I have written three educational video series for Crash Course, the YouTube channel from best-selling authors and vloggers John and Hank Green. In total, the series I’ve written have racked up over 7 million views.

Communications Manager at Opera Philadelphia

April 2016-October 2017
At the city’s premiere opera company, I communicated the brand’s message of artistic innovation and civic pride to the international opera and regional arts communities via digital, social, and print media. I also created promotional videos and imagery and assisted with media relations.

Managing Editor, Lifestyle & Entertainment at PhillyVoice.com

December 2014-April 2016

As the lead editor of the Entertainment and Food & Drink sections of a digital news brand, I managed a team of 10+ freelancers and staff writers to create lifestyle content relevant to Philadelphia audiences.
